Try It Out: South Beach Fishing

Looking for something different to do in South Beach? Well since you are in Florida, you might as well be outside on the water, right? And since Florida has some of the best fishing in the country, why not try it? Whether you’re an experienced angler or want to try it for the first time, there are many different fishing options available to you in the South Beach area. And you can fish year round in Miami!

Miami is actually a fisherman’s dream, because its surrounded by a diverse ecosystem that allows for the area to be filled with all sorts of fish, both for sport and eating.

Below are some different ways you can go experience some South Beach fishing:

South Beach Fishing Charters

Fishing charters are a great way to experience fishing with a captain out on the water. These charters guarantee you a higher chance of catching a fish, as well, since these fishermen know the best spots to find fish. There are many different types of charters to choose from, including half day or full day excursions and night fishing through Biscayne Bay’s flats. Smaller fishing charters are usually most expensive because you have more personalized attention with a group of under 10 people; there are other charters on larger vessels, that cost a lot less, but you’re fishing alongside 100 or so other people. Bait, tackle, and equipment are included in most fishing charter experiences. There are dozens of fishing charter captains in the Miami water, but here are a few to check out: Top Gun Fishing Charters, Outcast Sportsfishing, and Treasure Fleet.

Deep Sea Fishing in South Beach

Looking to head out deeper into the ocean? Try deep sea fishing. You’ll be targeting bigger fish in the Gulf Stream on these trips in Biscayne Bay or Florida Bay. Deep sea fishing trips go after tuna, grouper, kingfish, amberjack, snapper, mahi-mahi, marlin, sailfish, and giant tuna. Some places to take a deep sea adventure with include: Miami Beach Fishing, The Reward Fleet, and Top Gun Charters.

South Beach Fishing from Land

If you prefer to bring your own rod and reel and fish from the coastline, the area has plenty of good spots for you to cast your line. Places include: South Pointe Park Pier, Haulover Inlet Jetty, Newport Fishing Pier, and Pelican Harbor Marina. At these places, you have the opportunity to catch yourself a snapper, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and redfish.
